Cotopaxi Camping Area Renovation

The Limpiopungo Camping Area located in Cotopaxi National Park is being renovated as part of an interagency cooperation agreement signed between
the Ecuadorian Ministries of Tourism and Environment.
The Ministry of Tourism will invest $ 137,000 to create tourist facilities and the services needed the camping area a unique visitor experience. The overall goal is to create an environment harmonious with nature while providing sustainable tourism.
The renovation is designed to make the premises functional, comfortable as well as aesthetically pleasing. An expansion is planned to increase the capacity and improve the image of the destination.
The Limpiopungo renovation is part of the government plan to develop sustainable tourism within Ecuador focusing on protected areas which have a variety of sites with great potential for various types of tourism, generating economic resources to improve the living conditions of the communities surrounding those areas.
